West Midlands 2024
Our work in the West Midlands has included:
  • Training for Citizens Advice Bureaus in Birmingham and Solihull – this followed a mail-out to all CABs in the West Midlands
  • Training for the Birmingham City Council led GRT Partnership
  • Training for Dr Barnardos staff in Birmingham and Warwickshire
  • Training for Age UK staff in Warwickshire
  • Meetings with NHS staff in Warwickshire to improve service delivery to the GRT communities
  • Input into (and meeting with) the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner regarding the West Midlands Police and Crime Plan
  • Active membership of the Warwickshire Protocol on managing unauthorised encampments working group
  • Carrying out a feasibility study into the “Drivers Of Social And Planning Needs For Romany Gypsy & Traveller Provision In Warwickshire”
  • Working with Birmingham City Council to produce a “Gypsy, Roma and Travellers Strategy” – the final version of this is to be produced 17th October.
We continue to work with local authorities and other key agencies (Police, NHS, voluntary sector), as well as with individual families, across the West Midlands to improve the delivery of services to the GRT communities
