Education
You can ask your school- what they are teaching your children?
Many of you may have seen in the newspapers or on the social media, reports about teaching materials in schools in PSHE lessons. Many parents are confused as to what exactly PSHE is, it does not just cover relationship education but other factors in life like managing money, learning about civil rights or different cultures.
It is a parents right to withdraw their child from Sex education classes up to the age of 16, however parents are not supposed to remove their children from school for PSHE, this was made compulsory in 2020, however some schools have made errors in judgment and have decided that they will teach something called gender ideology within the PSHE curriculum, you may have seen this as trans ideology and that individuals can identify as being a different gender(sex).
Gender ideology is not fact it is a theory and so should not have any place whatsoever within primary and or secondary schools.
DGLG was made aware of some extremely bad lesson plans which not only taught this idea as fact but also have included it within PSHE education.
So what do we do, if there are bad teaching materials and a muddle up of PHSE/RSE. First of all ask the school to see all their teaching materials ask if they use materials from groups such as Stonewall, The proud Trust , Glad or Allsorts ( there are many of these groups)
If the school refuses or says its lesson plans are covered by copyright, there is a letter that was issued by Gillian Keenan of the Department of Education, you can down load that here that will enable you to access these lessons. PHSE is in both primary and secondary schools, since the onset of a very badly designed initiative, parents have become more and more worried and some children have been in real anguish due to influences from not just school but social media, bad library books and outside bodies that masquerade as charities, these “charities” rake in the money with their rainbow training schemes and are to be avoided.
We use the words children not young people or youth, young people and youth are both designed for those to not take heed of safeguarding and to distance themselves from the word child.
A recent report in schools, compiled by Protect and Teach, on equality and trans rights within the Southwest, illustrated that many schools are not following recent Government advice. 73% of schools in Dorset are misinterpreting the law and 62% in Cornwall. This advice was to not allow a girl to think they are a boy or a boy to think they are a girl by affirming it, i.e going along with it and they also do not have correct equalities policies. Many schools have brought in unisex toilets, this is not lawful so challenge it.
Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group is supporting challenges to a school and possibly another before this article is published.
Recently a report called the Cass report has been issued to try and stop this very damaging practice from spreading further, however that report focused on the mismanagement of health services for children suffering body dysmorphia ( when you are not happy with your body and it can cause mental anguish). It is extremely important to make sure your child is safe in school but not necessarily withdraw your child completely. Schools let their guard down, like many of us no one saw this advance, it seemed to come out of nowhere after lockdown, but in reality there has been some bad practice at hand that has allowed the very basics of safeguarding to be ignored, develop in strength over the last few years. The National Education Union openly promotes some very bad practice and lesson plans. Ask questions.
Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group has worked for 40 years for most of it we accessed schools for families, supported schooling and teachers, it is a sad fact that now that children are being withdrawn in droves and that the big organisations that should be supporting Gypsy and Traveller parents and more importantly safeguarding all children have chosen to stay quiet on this issue whilst worried mothers, anxious grans both Gypsy and gorger have come together as a network to protect all children, those groups staying silent should be ashamed.
Its important to state that not all schools have gone as far as the schools mentioned above, so please don’t be afraid to ask to see those materials
If a school is not allowing you access them or if you are worried ring us leave a message at DGLG office

Barrister advice from Karon Monaghan KC from Matrix Chambers download here
Schools in England and Wales have been warned by one of the country’s leading equality and human rights barristers that the “toolkit” many of them use to support gender-questioning children is unlawful.
Especially useful for families living in the Southwest. Brighton and Hove City Council have been told to remove their damaging trans tool kit form schools, unfortunately its use has spread across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset and it may
take a lot of work to remove the damage that has been done to the school system in this area.
15-year study please see here. This study confirms something we all knew, children grow out of questioning or wanting to change themselves, it is a natural part of growing up.

- Check the teachers out in your schools, is there an activist teacher in your school, are they promoting this gender nonsense.
- have they got an LGBTQ+ club in school, who runs that, what materials are in there,
- put in a formal complaint to have them removed from the school. If you need help ask us.
